Title: You Thought You'd Be A Hero

Prompt: written for # 184 at dracoharry100 , post-war
Authors Notes: Rated G... maybe PG for a bit of angst.

 

 

He stands at the edge of the forest. The sky is orange and grey, like fire, threatening to fall down, scorch his skin. He welcomes it as he gazes at the ruins of Hogwarts, of his childhood. His throat is scratchy and constricted; he blames it on the smoke rising from the singed trees.

He sees Potter standing beyond the clearing. Afraid of how he feels, not sure where he stands. He just knows Potter shouldn’t be alone. He hesitates and inches closer, fingers graze Potter’s hand. Potter flinches but says nothing, doesn’t have to.  They stand silent, in mourning.
