A/N:  Okay, I'm a day behind but I don't work tomorrow so I'm going to try to post two. Sigh, this is the fluffiest thing so far.

Narcissa wakes abruptly and blinks in the pale darkness. Quickly she pats the bed next to her, it’s empty. She sighs and pulls the blanket too her chest. Lucius won’t be out of Azkaban for two years, one year if Potter’s endorsement has any pull. She suspects it will. Still a year is too long to be alone, especially in a house where so much bad has happened. Her nerves are still frayed almost nine months later. She rarely sleeps through the night, waking from nightmares involving the Dark Lord in some way or another. He is dead but his presence is still real.

But tonight she hasn’t had a nightmare. It’s Christmas Eve and she’s heard a sound. She closes her eyes and listens.

There’s a soft humming from the old transistor radio in the drawing room, probably Draco. The sound calms her. As uneasy as she’s felt the past several months, she’s been more concerned about Draco. He still lives at the Manor despite receiving his inheritance. He tells her he wants to stay at home but Narcissa knows it’s a lie. The Manor is too empty, haunting, and cold now to be called home. Draco won’t admit it but she knows he stayed to keep her company. He behaves as if everything is fine but his smile no longer touches his eyes. She knows he’s troubled by the things he was forced to witness because she can’t even think on those things without panicking.

She lifts the duvet and steps into her house slippers. Pulling her robe over her shoulders she heads to the hallway. Draco may want company.

She sees light painting the wall just outside the drawing room. Rainbow colored from the Christmas tree. There is warmth sinking into her skin as she approaches the sound of Celestina Warbeck crooning “I’ll be Home for Christmas.” Draco must have a fire going.

She steps in front of the doorway and stops cold. What she sees makes her gasp. She quickly covers her mouth and stumbles backwards. In the center of the room right before the fireplace and adjacent to the large Christmas tree her son is standing, wrapped in Harry Potter’s embrace. She glances at the roaring fire; Potter must have traveled by floo.

The two men are so close not even light shines between them. Draco is resting on Potter’s shoulder, Potter’s fingers curl into his beautiful blond hair. They aren’t quite dancing, more like swaying off beat, as if they’ve forgotten the music. She stands frozen, watching them as two more Christmas classics play on the radio. Neither says a word, there movements don’t change. They just hold each other, Potter soothingly caresses Draco’s hair, Draco rubs circles on Potter’s shoulder.

Narcissa swallows something large and painful in the back of her throat. She wonders if she should be upset with Draco but there’s something that keeps her quiet. Something she can see in Draco. Something she’s felt before. Peace.

Draco is at peace.

She turns on her heel and tip-toes back to her bedroom. Her thoughts drift to Lucius and suddenly a year feels like a lifetime. Once curled up beneath the duvet she smiles to herself. For now, their son is happy and that’s all that matters. She closes her eyes and wills herself to dream of holding her husband again.
